Ima Kidd, the writers of The Chicago Kidz Book Series, will read stories about the city’s iconic nicknames on September 19, 2026 at Da Book Joint in Chicago
CHICAGO, IL, UNITED STATES, September 8, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — The creatives behind Ima Kidd, Patricia Rogers and Eric Williams, are a niece and uncle team combining their talents to write children’s books and produce music video trailers for each book to increase student and parent interest in learning to read and reading to learn. The authors start each reading by playing the music video before opening their books for kids to enjoy! Young readers often dance and sing along with the music videos before and after the readings.
The books that will be featured at Da Book Joint include: “The Envy Of The Winds: How Chicago Became Known As The Windy City,” “The Chicago Kidz In The City That Works,” and “The Chicago Kidz In Chiberia.” Each book takes young readers on a journey through Chicago and its neighborhoods as they explore the meanings behind the various nicknames the city has acquired over the years.
A meaningful connection exists between Kuumba Enterprises LLC, the parent company of Ima Kidd and The Chicago Kidz (started by Rogers and Williams), and Da Book Joint where the Community Reading Day will take place: both organizations were founded by family members interested in promoting early childhood literacy in Chicago. Da Book Joint is a Black mother-daughter owned business born on the South Side of Chicago committed to literary growth and positive youth engagement.
The Community Reading Day event will run from 12:00pm to 3:00pm and will include refreshments, giveaways and other authors who will share their books with attending kids and parents. All are invited to attend and join in the fun!
