Property Revolution Roofing and Decks is encouraging homeowners throughout Portage, Kalamazoo, Mattawan, Paw Paw and surrounding Kalamazoo County communities to inspect their homes for possible exterior damage following severe thunderstorms that moved through the area in early September.
On September 5, the National Weather Service in Grand Rapids issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for Kalamazoo County that included Portage. The warning identified wind gusts of up to 60 mph and penny-size hail and specifically noted the potential for damage to roofs, siding and trees.
Roof damage after a wind or hail event is not always obvious from the ground. Shingles may remain in place while tabs have been lifted, seals have been weakened, flashing has shifted or impact damage has shortened the useful life of roofing materials.

The timing is particularly important because September marks the transition toward cooler and wetter conditions in West Michigan.
