Fiduciary Trust Company (“Fiduciary”), a Boston-based private wealth management firm, announced today that Eric Cunnane, JD, has been named Chief Fiduciary Officer. In his new role, Cunnane will oversee fiduciary services for Fiduciary and its New Hampshire affiliate, Fiduciary Trust of New England (“FTNE”), while also leading the firm’s Trust and Estates Legal Department. He will be a member of the firm’s Senior Management Committee and report to Fiduciary’s President & CEO, Austin V. Shapard.

Cunnane joined FTNE in 2024 as Vice President and Trust Counsel, advising the firm on fiduciary law and trust administration while working closely with client teams on estate and tax planning. He has been recognized in the 2021-2025 editions of “Best Lawyers in America: Ones to Watch” for his practice in Trusts and Estates law.

Cunnane is a member of the Boston Bar Association, previously serving as Co-Chair of the Trusts and Estates Section’s Estate Planning Committee. He is also a member of the New Hampshire Estate Planning Council and the New Hampshire Trust Council.

Before joining Fiduciary, Cunnane was an attorney in the Private Client and Trust practice group of Goulston & Storrs PC, where he advised high-net-worth individuals and families in the U.S. and abroad on tax-efficient estate and gift plans. He also served as a trustee for private trusts and advised beneficiaries and trustees on fiduciary best practices and related advocacy. Cunnane earned his JD from Suffolk University Law School, graduating cum laude, and earned a BA in Political Science and English from Providence College.
