The Minnesota Alliance on Problem Gambling (MNAPG), a statewide nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness about problem gambling and connecting Minnesotans with prevention, education, treatment and recovery resources, has named Nikki Beasley as its new executive director.
Beasley brings more than 20 years of experience leading mission-driven organizations and programs serving Minnesotans facing complex challenges. She most recently served as executive director of the Conflict Resolution Center and previously held leadership roles with Foster Advocates, Women’s Advocates, YWCA St. Paul, Breaking Free and The Bridge for Youth.
Beasley succeeds Susan Sheridan Tucker, who is retiring at the end of the year and has led the MNAPG since 2018.
“Nikki brings a remarkable combination of nonprofit leadership, advocacy experience and a deep understanding of how to build meaningful partnerships across communities,” said Sheridan Tucker. “As Minnesota’s gambling landscape continues to evolve, education, prevention and access to resources are increasingly important. Nikki’s collaborative approach and commitment to helping people facing difficult circumstances make her an excellent leader for MNAPG’s next chapter.”
Throughout her career, Beasley has built partnerships among community organizations, policymakers, educators and government agencies to improve access to services and address barriers that can prevent people from getting the support they need. Her experience includes working with the Minnesota Department of Human Services and advocating for individuals and families navigating complicated social-service systems.
Beasley has been a prominent Minnesota advocate on issues including foster care reform, youth protection and human trafficking prevention. Her work and expertise have been featured by national child-welfare media, Minnesota broadcast and public radio outlets, and publications covering public policy and social services. Her advocacy has also been informed by lived experience, giving her a distinctive perspective on the importance of ensuring that systems and services are accessible to the people who need them.
As executive director, Beasley will lead MNAPG’s efforts to increase awareness and understanding of problem gambling, strengthen prevention and education initiatives, expand community outreach and partnerships, and connect Minnesotans affected by gambling-related harm with resources and support.
“I am honored to step into this role and build upon the incredible work Susan has championed,” Beasley said. “As MNAPG continues to grow, I look forward to strengthening partnerships, advancing prevention and recovery efforts, and helping ensure that every Minnesotan impacted by gambling-related harm has access to support and hope.”
Beasley’s appointment comes at an important time for MNAPG as gambling opportunities and conversations about gambling continue to expand in Minnesota. The organization works to ensure that problem gambling remains part of the broader public conversation and that prevention, treatment and recovery resources keep pace with a changing gambling environment.
