MIRAMAR, Fla., Nov. 5, 2026
MIRAMAR, Fla., Nov. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — VITAS Healthcare today announced that President and CEO Joel Wherley has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Alliance for Care at Home, the nation’s leading association representing providers across hospice, palliative care, home health and other care-at-home services.
As a member of the Board, Wherley will help guide the Alliance’s efforts to advance high-quality care in the home and support policies that improve access, quality and outcomes for patients and families nationwide. The Alliance serves as the unified voice for providers delivering care at home and advocates for innovation and excellence across the care continuum.
“It is an honor to serve on the National Alliance for Care at Home Board of Directors at a time when more patients and families are choosing to receive care at home,” said Wherley. “Meeting those needs will require collaboration among providers, policymakers and industry leaders. I look forward to working with my fellow Board members to strengthen access to care, support caregivers and help shape the future of care at home.”
Wherley’s appointment to the Board reflects both his leadership in the healthcare industry and VITAS’ longstanding commitment to expanding access to high-quality hospice and palliative care wherever patients call home.
“For nearly 50 years, VITAS has helped patients and families navigate some of life’s most challenging moments with compassion, expertise and dignity,” Wherley said. “I am proud to represent our organization and the dedicated clinicians, caregivers and team members who make that mission possible every day. I look forward to bringing their perspective and experience to the Alliance’s important work.”
As the nation’s leading provider of end-of-life care, VITAS has long been committed to advancing quality, access and innovation in serious illness care. Wherley’s appointment further strengthens the organization’s role in helping shape the future of healthcare delivery in the home.
