Denver Dive, an independent digital publication covering the culture, music, and lifestyle of Denver, Colorado, has named Thomas Rutherford as a Co-Founder and Editor of the publication. Rutherford, who is originally from outside of Nashville, Tennessee, has lived in Colorado for more than 13 years, including eight years living in Denver, and brings an established background in music journalism to his role with the publication.

At Denver Dive, Rutherford oversees the Soundboard desk, the publication’s section dedicated to covering music across the Front Range. Since the publication’s launch, his reporting has included interviews with local and touring artists, coverage of album releases, and reporting on music festivals and venues across the Denver metro area, including coverage of acts performing at venues such as Hi-Dive and Globe Hall. His coverage has spanned a range of genres represented within Denver’s music community, from psych-rock and indie gothic pop to punk and soul-influenced acts.

Rutherford’s coverage has placed particular emphasis on Denver’s independent and emerging music scene, profiling local bands and musicians who may not otherwise receive coverage from larger regional outlets. His reporting has also extended to broader music industry events affecting the city, including coverage of music festivals operating within the Denver area and recaps of major outdoor music events held throughout the year. He has reported extensively on new album releases from Denver based artists ahead of their release dates, often pairing interviews with the artists alongside analysis of their work within the context of the city’s broader music scene.

Rutherford has also covered new festivals entering Denver’s music calendar, reporting on the organizers behind these events and what they aim to bring to the city’s live music landscape. The publication’s founding team includes seven journalists and contributors who collectively oversee its editorial sections.
