Her husband, Dean Malone, will be actively involved alongside her as they carry forward the relationships and family-oriented approach that have shaped the organization for more than two decades.

The transition provides continuity for clients, caregivers, referral partners, and community partners while bringing new perspectives to the organization’s future. Terry will serve as the owner and primary public-facing leader of the women-led business, with Dean actively involved alongside her. Lisa Carson will remain involved behind the scenes to provide continuity and support as details of her ongoing role are finalized. Services will continue without disruption.

For Terry, a native Texan and Texas Tech University graduate, taking ownership is more than a business opportunity. After spending the past 12 years in Colorado, she and Dean had been looking for the right opportunity to return to Texas and move closer to family, particularly Terry’s parents in Lubbock.

When they learned John and Lisa Carson were selling Comfort Keepers, the opportunity brought together family, purpose, and a return home. Terry also brings a background centered on helping others. She began her career in education and later spent several years raising her four children while volunteering, working with her family’s business, and helping people with job searches.

After returning to the classroom, she worked with diverse learners, helping students build confidence and overcome challenges. She plans to bring that same relationship-focused approach to Comfort Keepers, where families are often making deeply personal decisions about support for someone they love.

A Veteran’s Perspective on Service

Dean’s experience as a U.S. Navy veteran lends another dimension to Comfort Keepers’ mission and personal significance. His military service shaped his commitment to teamwork, accountability, perseverance, and serving others, principles he will bring to his involvement with Comfort Keepers as he supports Terry in its next chapter.

Supporting veterans and their families will remain an important focus in this next chapter. Dean will continue working in the agricultural equipment industry, buying and selling farm machinery and helping farmers and ranchers find equipment for their operations, while remaining actively involved with Comfort Keepers alongside Terry.

Terry is approaching ownership with a clear priority: build on what Comfort Keepers has established rather than replace it. For more than 24 years, the Lubbock office has taken a family-oriented approach centered on personable service and quality care.
