SAVANNAH, GA, UNITED STATES, September 15, 2026 /EINPresswire.com/ — SierrAfrica Diaspora Connect (SADC) has announced a five-part global webinar series designed to deepen understanding of Sierra Leone—its founding, history, cultural connections, national growth, and emerging investment opportunities.
Presented under the theme “One Heritage. Many Stories. A Shared Future,” the series will bring together historians, cultural stewards, government representatives, educators, entrepreneurs, investors, and members of the African Diaspora from Sierra Leone, the United States, Canada, Jamaica, and the United Kingdom.
The first webinar, on September 24, will explore the enduring connections among Sierra Leoneans, the Gullah Geechee of the United States, Black Loyalists of Nova Scotia, Jamaican Maroons, and Krio descendants. The series will also examine how education, digitalization, agriculture, health, cultural tourism, and diaspora investment can contribute to Sierra Leone’s continued development.

EXPERIENCE SIERRA LEONE
The series will culminate in an invitation to join SADC’s 10-Day Heritage and Legacy Tour, March 7–16, 2027. More than a traditional tour, this purposeful homecoming will connect participants with Sierra Leone’s people, history, culture, institutions, businesses, and communities. Every deposit collected for the tour will support the people of historic Tasso Island, bringing life-affirming resources to its more than 5,000 residents.
The tour will include an inaugural celebration commemorating the founding of Freetown, bringing together descendants and representatives of communities shaped by the Black Atlantic experience, including the Gullah Geechee, Black Loyalists, Jamaican Maroons, and Krio communities. Participants will have opportunities to honor their shared heritage, visit historic sites, engage with local leaders, celebrate Freedom Day, support community initiatives, and explore pathways for business and investment.
DOCUMENTARY FUNDING SOUGHT
SADC is also seeking sponsors, funding partners, and collaborators for “Bridging Freedom,” a documentary project that will chronicle the historic connections linking Sierra Leone with African-descended communities throughout the Atlantic world.
The documentary will follow the stories and journeys connecting the founding of Freetown in Sierra Leone with the Gullah Geechee Lowcountry, Black Loyalist communities in Nova Scotia, Jamaican Maroons, and Krio descendants in the United Kingdom. Filming will include the March 2027 Heritage and Legacy Tour and its gatherings, ceremonies, cultural exchanges, and community partnerships. Most significantly, it will memorialize the blessing of sacred artifacts from Bunce Island to Gadsden’s Wharf in Charleston, and Historic Mitchelville Freedom Park.
